Kay Parris Magnolia
This compact, robust evergreen tree or large shrub features a straight trunk and a pyramidal to rounded crown. It is known for its huge, heavily scented, creamy-white flowers that appear at the tips of thick, tough stems from late spring through summer and into fall. The bowl-shaped blossoms open in the morning and close at night for 2-3 days. The glossy, dark green leaves have wavy edges and a velvety, deep orange-brown underside, adding year-round interest to the landscape. Relatively fast-growing and pest-free, it is a popular choice for adding elegance and fragrance to gardens and landscapes. Ideal as a specimen plant, living screen, or tall hedge, Magnolia grandiflora 'Kay Parris' thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers organically rich, moist, well-drained soils.
