Koroneiki Olive Tree
This broadleaf evergreen tree is renowned for its high-quality olive oil production and adaptability. It features small, dark green, lanceolate leaves and fragrant white flowers. The small olives, initially green and turning black-purple or reddish-brown when ripe, yield an exceptional olive oil with a rich, fruity flavor and a touch of bitterness. Originating from the Peloponnese region of Greece, this variety is highly valued for its premium olive oil, which accounts for a significant portion of Greek production. It thrives in full sun with low water and well-drained, sandy soils, tolerating a range of soil conditions and adverse climates. Although olives are wind-pollinated, this variety will set more fruit if planted with another variety, making it an excellent oil producer.
