Acer palmatum ‘Bloodgood’ / Bloodgood Japanese Maple
This large deciduous shrub or small tree is renowned for its striking beauty in all seasons. It features a rounded, upright form with dense, spreading branches. In spring, it produces small purple flowers that give way to red fruits. The delicate, wine-red to burgundy leaves hold their color throughout the summer and turn vibrant crimson-red in the fall. As the leaves fall, the blackish-red bark is exposed, adding winter interest to the landscape. Its elegant form and vibrant foliage make it a prized ornamental plant, often used as a focal point in gardens, patios, or as a bonsai specimen. Ideal as a specimen plant in cottage gardens, city gardens, or Japanese gardens, it prefers moist, organically rich, slightly acidic, well-drained soils.
