Sequoia sempervirens / Coast Redwood

This iconic, evergreen tree is renowned for its incredible height and longevity. The Coast Redwood is the tallest tree species on Earth, often exceeding 300 feet in height, with some specimens reaching over 350 feet. Its straight, reddish-brown trunk is covered in thick, fibrous bark that provides resistance to insects, fungi, and fire. The dense, dark green foliage consists of needle-like leaves arranged in flat sprays. The Coast Redwood thrives in well-drained, moist soils and is highly adaptable to various conditions. It is an excellent choice for creating dramatic vertical accents in large landscapes and is also valued for its timber.
