Cedrus deodara/Deodar Cedar
Cedrus deodara
The Deodar Cedar is a fine-textured evergreen tree that starts with a broad pyramidal form in its youth. As it matures, its pendulous or weeping branches spread wide, often due to the central leader dying out. Known as one of the most graceful conifers, it excels as a specimen tree, in landscape groupings, or as a screen. However, it’s important to consider its large mature size when choosing a planting location. Its year-round gray-green color adds interest to a winter garden, providing cover and nesting sites for birds and small mammals. Additionally, with its lower branches removed, it becomes an attractive and intriguing street tree.
